The captivating landscape,
with an incomparable diversity of flora and fauna, Sikkim
is a refreshing treat to the trekkers. Sikkim offers
various heritage tours and also has to tender number
of fascinating trekking routes to enterprising trek enthusiasts.
The best time to trek in these parts of the Eastern Himalayas
is between mid- February to May and again from October
to December. The treks pass by beautiful gompas, simple
but colorful hamlets and through so fascinating alpine
forests full of a rich variety of flora and fauna. Yuksom
is an ideal take-off point for trekking. This point is
invariably used as a centre of climbing and trekking
expeditions by the Himalayan
Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling. The trek to Bakhim is an
unforgettable experience.

Dzongri at an altitude
of 3,962 mtrs. in West Sikkim,offers the visitor an excellent
and unobstructed view of the Kanchajonga Massif. It also
provides a trekker with superb views of sunrise and sunset.

Foreigners have to obtain
permits for trekking on most routes in Sikkim. Permits
can be obtained from any of the following places: Delhi,
Kolkata, Siliguri.Permit restrictions mean that trekkers
can only follow well-beaten trails and within a limited
period of time.

DAY 1: Gangtok
to Yuksom. After breakfast transfer to Yuksom via Singtam,
Temi tea Estate, Ravangla Tashiding. Lunch stop at
Ravangla. Overnight at hotel at Yuksom.

DAY 2: Yuksom
to Tshoka. (10000 ft) Yuksom to Tshoka 6 hrs trek, on the
way crossing waterfalls like Churchery, Mintogang and
stream like Phakhola & Chursey. Break at Sachen for
lunch.

DAY 3: Tshoka
the last tiny village of Bhutias at an altitude of (10000
ft) rest on that day.

DAY 4: Tshoka
to Dzongri (13290 ft) 4 hrs walk quite steeply upwards
crossing Deorali a view point and move to Dzongri.

DAY 5: Dzongri
(13290 ft) early morning walk approx. half an hour up to
the Dzongri pass from where views of the mountain ranges
look ominously close. Like Panoramic views of mt. Kabru,
mt. Koktang, mt. Rathong, mt. Pandim, mt. Talung mt.
Khangchendzonga peaks standing aloft in all its celestial
beauty.

DAY 6: Dzongri
to Tshoka After breakfast trek down to Tshoka.

DAY 7: Tshoka
to Yuksom.Trek the same way back to Yuksom via Bakhim,
Prekchu and Sachen with lunch stop in between.Upon
arrival check into Yuksom hotel.

DAY 8: Yuksom
to Bagdogra / Darjeeling / Gangtok.
