While visiting monasteries, respect the cultural tradition of state. Remove your shoes outside and try not to wear offensive clothes.
Refrain from giving money to children since it will encourage begging.
Foreigners who want to visit Sikkim must acquire ILP that is Inner Line Permit besides an Indian visa. Foreigners can obtain the permits from the tourist offices in Delhi, Sikkim and Calcutta.

Make travel arrangements well in advance, especially if you are traveling in the peak season

If you are visiting Sikkim during summer carry light woolen clothes with you. While if you are visiting Sikkim during the winter then bring heavy woolen clothes.
Always prefer drinking filtered or mineral water. Avoid eating uncooked food or ill prepared food during your trip.

People of Sikkim are basically rice-eaters. Alcoholic drinks are admired both amongst men and women. Beef eating is common amongst the Bhutias. Sikkim cuisine shows influence of different countries and culture. One can discover a touch of Tibetan and Nepal cuisine in many dishes .More than vegetarian dishes, you will get non vegetarian dishes. Meat and dairy products are a usual among people of Sikkim.
Popular dishes of Sikkim are Momos, Thukpa or Gya Thuk (Noodle Soup), Gundruk and Sinki, Kinema Chhurpi, Mesu, Sidra ko Achar, Saelroti, Pakku

Summer, Winter, Monsoon, Autumn and Spring are the five seasons of Sikkim.In summers temperature seldom goes to maximum 28 °C and drops below 0°C in winters. The average annual temperature for the foremost part of Sikkim is recorded 18°C. The sun shines bright in the state of Sikkim during the months of March–May. Since its raining most of the time in Sikkim therefore one can easily feel the humidity in the air. Monsoon prevails from late-June to early-September. Autumn stays from September to October and is a pleasant time for tourists to visit the state. In India, Sikkim is one of the few states that receive regular snowfall. The proper winter season starts from late December till February
